Tere jälle, kool!

Viimased kuu aega on olnud töised.

Mul on sel semestril kuidagi palju orgaanilist keemiat.

The last month has been filled with work. I have been doing experiments in the lab. But now I am faced with the task of writing something Master's thesis-like thing out of them. I wouldn't want to do that, not at all, but unfortunately they won't give the Master's degree to me any other way, so I'll have to suck it up.

This week the school began again. I have a lot of organic chemistry this semester. Unfortunately I discovered that since I last studied it some 2-3 years ago, I don't remember as much I would have liked to. There were some electrophilic and nucleophilic attacks and stuff and I felt some slight panic, because I used to know how these reactions and things work, but now it felt more like.. magic.
I also took a course of reaction processes, where I am the only person from my faculty. All the other ones are food or environmental chemistry students or something like that (I'm not sure what they study exactly), but anyway - the teacher knows all of them and kept referring to some courses that the others had just learned the previous semester and that they ought to remember. I, however, knew nothing about them, so I felt a bit lonely. But in april we are going to have an excursion to a paint factory, which sounds great. And I like reactors and stuff, so I'll be fine.

Ardo is going to fly to Italy tomorrow to a conference. He doesn't have to speak there, he is sent there only to watch and learn how these things work. And now from his workplace they have asked him if he wants to go to another one in Italy in summer. I am a little bit envious.

Pragu

Nagu Yodagi ütles "You must train yourself to let go of everything you are afraid to lose". Anakini puhul see küll ei töötanud...

This morning I discovered a big crack in a plate that I have had since I was little. It has a picture of a bear and a bun or something like that (it's a character in a children's story) and I ate porridge from that plate for many years in my childhood. I was devastated when I found the crack. You might think that something as small as a cracked plate should not upset a grown person, but it still did. I was so sad. Maybe I'll hide it now and bring it out on special occasions only so that the boys in our household wonõt eat off it by accident...
And maybe I shouldn't be so attached to things. As Yoda said "You must train yourself to let go of everything you are afraid to lose". Didn't work so well with Anakin though...

Meil metsas kasvas kuuseke

Täiesti ootamatult saime me eile endale kuuse.

Unexpectedly we got ourselves a Christmas tree yesterday. It is a small one that fits nicely on top of a cupboard in a vase. The tree was brought to us by Ardo's parents who were visiting us in the city. And we also got the vase to put it in. But the trouble was that the vase was quite high and the tree didn't fit in it as well as it could have and wanted to fall over. But after a few MacGyver-ish moves by Ardo's brother and I, which included a wrench, some rags and some plastic attaching-thingies, we were able ti accomplish our goal and now the tree stands nicely in our living room.
After we tackled this problem, I remembered that I have no Christmas ornaments to decorate the tree with. So at this moment the tree is in its very natural form. But fortunately this problem is easily solved and last night as I was watching tv, I managed to already crochet two ornaments, and my mother said I could take some of her ornaments as she is not using them all at once any way.

Yesterday was also the day when the saga of finding Ardo a nice winter coat ended successfully. We had been looking for it for such a long time, but now we found the perfect one and he is so handsome in it :D

Istanbul, not Constantinople

Päris armas tants on tegelt, mulle täitsa meeldib.

Ardo's birthday was last saturday. We didn't have a big party or anything, just a quiet evening. The party will be this weekend :D
We went to the new dances competition last weekend that is held here every year and where folk dance choreographers can submit their new dances and the best in each category are chosen. We had one dance that was quite lyrical and very nice, in my opinion. I think it went well, we didin't mess up much or anything. Although the dance didn't win any prizes, it is still going to be in the next dance festival in 2014.

Täna on mul kohe kaks laulu. Esimene laul on (päev 17) - laul, mida tihti kuuled raadiost. Kuigi tal on suured kõrvad. Aga ülejäänud osa temast on kena vaadata :P

Today is a two song day. The first song is (day 17) - a song that you hear often on the radio.
So yeah, I have been hearing this quite a lot recently. But that's obvious, because James is in the cinema again. Maybe I'll even go and see him... Daniel Craig is definite eyecandy. Even though he has big ears. But the rest of him is nice to look at :P

Teist laulu kuulsin ma täna lindy hop tunnis.

The second song I heard today at my lindy hop class. I liked it so much that I looked it up when I got home. And here it is. It also suits well with the next topic - day 18 and a song that you wish you heard on the radio.

"Why did Constantinople get the works? It's nobody's business, but the turks'" :D

With warm greetings to my turkish friends :)

Lugu

There was a funny story with the special dance footwear - pastlad - we use when performing folk dances (I'll just call them shoes for now for simplicity's sake). Ardo's new pair was a bit small for him, so he made an exchange with Siim whose shoes were a little bit too big. And everyone was happy for a while. Yesterday I started looking for my dance shoes, but couldn't find them anywhere. The old ones with holes in them were there, but the new and pretty ones were missing. But I found three men's pairs which had to be Ardo's. And so... yes, he had exchanged my shoes instead of his :P Siim, who had got them said that yes, they seemed a bit small, but they were okay for him... And Ardo himself wore them in practice a few times. See what happens when you and your man have a similar shoe size...:P
This is what these pastlad look like..and what eventually happens to them :P

Day 16 - a song that you used to love but now hate

N Sync was totally hot when I was younger. Now it leaves me cold. I can't say I hate it, I think I have just outgrown it. Still, it was really nostalgic listening to it again... and I had forgotten that Justin Timberlake used to look like this :P
